Lesson Learned

Each generation accepts the world it finds.  Even if they learn that once the world was greener, cleaner, richer, they are unable to do more than pass on a feeble warning to the next generation who will accept what they find.
And so it goes, until the day we accept the desert.

Lesson Learned

One of the most delightful feelings possible is when you find yourself hurrying to meet someone.

Lessons Learned

Today compassion is not thought of as an inherent quality of the human spirit, an inner resource with us always, and used to make the world more amenable.
No. today, compassion is a quantifiable possession that we own in quantities of less or more (depending on our genes) and which we dole out sometimes when we find a suitable party for its application, preferably tax deductible.  Today, compassion is synonymous with charity.

More things I have learned

Most of us don't grow. We simply change.

A mis-used truth is not much different from a lie.

It means little to be free if you keep your mouth shut.

Lessons Learned (cont'd)

People are as selective about their future as much as their past.  Their predictions are no more or less honest than their memories.

Lesson Learned

The honest thought is easy,
comes like rain.
The action taken from it
causes pain.

Lessons Learned

No one will ever love you as much as you want.

Cruelty is more common than kindness, unless one counts those innumerable times of being ignored or passed over as kindnesses.
No one will ever need you as much as you need them.

Things I have Learned

We are all somebody's prey.

Common sense and principles are often on opposite sides.

Rules are always being made by people who can't do what the rules are for.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach. And those who can't do either one, become critics.

With age, the Past increases, the Future shrinks, and the Now becomes squeezed lifeless between these two domains.

Lesson Learned

Some people go mad; they rant and rave; they meet the standard cliche of what insanity is.

Others go mad and live a life of coping and concealment.
